1. Introduction to Philosophy
Lecture Focus: Students will receive an overview Introductory class to Philosophy.
2. Logic
Lecture Focus: Evaluating arguments and creating strong arguments
3. The History of Philosophy
Lecture Focus: Students will learn about Modern Philosophy, Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, as well as19th and 20th Century Philosophy.
4. Meta-philosophy
Lecture Focus: Students will begin thinking about fundamental issues, and through Metaphysics will ask questions such as; what really exists?
5. The Mind-Body Problem
Lecture Focus: Students will look into Materialism, Dualism, and Idealism.

Lecture Focus: Students will learn about the Philosophical Theology, and receive an overview in Philosophy of Religion. Students will look into Arguments for God, Cosmological and Teleological Arguments, as well as Arguments against God : The Problem of Evil. Students will also discuss Faith and Reason.
8. Epistemology
Lecture Focus: Students will look into Rationalism vs. Empiricism, Skepticism, The Analysis of Knowledge, The Conditions of Knowledge, and the Structure of Knowledge.
9. Ethics
Lecture Focus: Students will discuss Relativism and Objectivism, Consequentialist Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Aristotelian Ethics.

Doctor of Philosophy
About Jonathan Strand
Dr. Strand is Professor of Philosophy at Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE). He has been a member of CUE’s faculty since 1994. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota (summa cum laude) and a Master of Divinity degree. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, under the directorship of Dr. Alvin Plantinga. Dr. Strand’s recent scholarship focuses on the intersections between philosophy of religion, epistemology, ethics, philosophy of mind, and logic.
