8. Psychology
Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour—thinking, feeling, acting. Students of psychology study the human experience and explore the phenomena of learning, development, personality, language, emotions, memory, and social interactions. Our 3-year Psychology degree program provides broad foundational knowledge, enabling students/graduates to be more authoritative thinkers and more qualified users of psychological theory and research, while deepening their insights into their own and other's behaviour. Insights into human behaviour, thoughts, and emotions, are valuable in many career paths including social services, business, law, and education. Studies in psychology can complement studies in many other fields. Many students completing our 3-year Psychology degree proceed to our B.Ed. After Degree on their pathway to becoming educators.
Additionally, our 3-year Psychology degree provides an introduction to statistics and research methods, which can be valuable in many careers, and in life itself. Please note: Students considering graduate studies in Psychology, either research-focused, or clinical/counseling-focused, are strongly encouraged to consider one of our 4-year Psychology degree programs.
A. General Academic Requirements

- PSY 211 (Statistical Methods for Psychological Research) or equivalent with a minimum grade of C- (MAT 151 (Introduction to Statistical Methods) and SOC 210 (Introduction to Social Statistics) are acceptable equivalents). The Psychology Department strongly recommends PSY 211 (Statistical Methods for Psychological Research).
