History — 3-year 2025/2026

4. History

Concordia’s 3-yr BA history degree provides students with a rigorous Bachelor degree with a concentration in history that places special attention on cultivating excellent research and writing skills, and introducing students to high-level critical thinking and problem solving. The program is structured to ensure all students gain exposure to three content areas: European history, Canadian History, and the history of certain themes (such as the history of science, genocide, and capitalism).

Along with these content courses, the program features a foundational course in research methods, and a senior-level course in the philosophy and history of history-writing. The goal of the program is to prepare students to be critically engaged citizens, able to understand social and political patterns from a variety of perspectives, and able to use written and oral tools of communication to express ideas.
