8. Sociology — 4-year
Concordia’s 4-yr major BA sociology degree focuses on sociological fundamentals–social theory and research methodology while enabling students to explore key thematics, such as the sociology of work, race and ethnicity, religion, and gender. The program works to ensure students develop a critical sociological imagination and become informed and engaged members of their communities. Our sociology students are taught to make arguments and decisions based on the best available evidence and a deep understanding of social patterns and phenomena, and to communicate these arguments through a variety of written and oral mediums for academic, work-related, and public audiences. The four-year program offers comprehensive training in social theory, research and advanced topics and prepares students for careers directly related to sociology, graduate degree studies, and professional programs, such as law, social work, and medical schools.
