Visiting Research Scholars enhance the scholarly environment at Concordia University of Edmonton, provide opportunities for research collaborations, and position our university as a research destination. CUE welcomes applications for Visiting Research Scholars at any time of the year from notable scholars at local and international academic institutions.
Visiting Research Scholars must be nominated by a member of faculty at CUE. Part of this nomination process involves providing a rationale for the visit and a general outline of planned activities to occur during the visit and the anticipated benefits for CUE. The nominating faculty member acts as the host of the visitor while he/she is at the institution. Visiting Research Scholars are typically welcome for terms ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months. Applications for Visiting Research Scholar appointments are adjudicated by the Research & Faculty Development Committee.
In addition to collaborative activities with CUE faculty members, Visiting Research Scholars are encouraged to engage with the CUE community by giving a general lecture for faculty and students in the area of their expertise at a negotiated point during their stay.
Visiting Research Scholars are awarded without remuneration, benefits, accommodation, transport, meals, reimbursement for expenses, or other forms of material support unless these are provided for in a separate application for a CUE Internal Research Grant. The Visiting Research Scholar is typically provided with an appropriate work area (shared office space) and access to library and campus resources.
The application form for a Visiting Research Scholars can be downloaded here and should be submitted electronically here. Questions regarding the program may also be directed to the Vice President Academic & Provost.
