Your degree
We offer a 3-year Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a concentration in Drama, and a Drama minor through our Bachelor of Arts, Science or Management programs.
Your faculty
The Drama Department faculty comprises an experienced group of practicing artists dedicated to providing a personal learning experience, enabling you to explore various disciplines and develop your creative potential.
Your education
You set the stage for your education by gaining experience though practical courses in acting, directing, technical production, theatrical design, theatre for young audiences, and public speaking. You will also take some academic focused classes in play analysis and theatre history. The program includes credit classes with opportunities to practice your acting or technical theatre skills in the main stage theatre productions. All of this culminates in a final capstone project that extends beyond the classroom, offering the opportunity to integrate project management and entrepreneurship in order to apply the skills you have learned in support of your future career and educational goals.
Your opportunity
Through the Fall and Winter terms, you will also have the opportunity to audition, volunteer and perform in two mainstage productions as artists (actors, designers), production crew (stage management or technicians) or administrators (Front of House, Publicity). You may also participate in various workshops and One-Act play Festival in the fall, and the Fine Arts Research and Performance Festival held each Spring, in partnership with Music and Concordia’s Drama Club, The GTC.
Drama at CUE
When you study Drama at CUE, you will work alongside industry professionals to master the skills, garner the knowledge, and create the connections you need to secure a job, discover the world, and build your future in the arts.
Your future
Many of CUE’s Drama graduates continue on to work in film, theatre and live event production or as teachers, youth workers and creative workshop leaders. Many of our graduates also go on to complete CUE’s Education After Degree program. Other graduates apply their communication and collaboration skills in business, social work and psychology.
CUE, in partnership with Wishbone Theatre, also hosts the Edmonton International Fringe Festival as a venue; providing further opportunities to develop your career in the theatrical arts.
