IN MEMORIAM: Gordon Hafso Called to be with his Lord

Gordon Hafso (1926 – 2010), long-time professor of music and choir director at Concordia, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 1:30 a.m., at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton. Concordia President Dr. Gerald Krispin reflects fondly on the life of Gordon Hafso. He says, "Gordon established a lasting legacy of quality and professionalism for our choirs, one which continues to this very day. While we are saddened by his passing, we rejoice in the certainty that he who taught students to sing as in the company of angels, now himself rejoices with "the angels and archangels and all the company of heaven", singing eternal praise to Him who redeemed and made Gordon His own." Dr. Joy Berg has been asked to lead a choir of Concordia choir alumni to sing one of Professor Hafso's hymns at the funeral.
