Concordia University of Edmonton has been offering information systems security programs since 2000 and in 2005 started the Master of Information Systems Security Program (MISSM) after receiving Campus Alberta Quality Council (CAQC) approval for the graduate degree program. Since then many graduates from this program have gone on the very successful careers in government, industry and consulting. Our graduates help move the information security field forward through their work and research. Some have even gone on to doctoral programs and research in information security.
Our program is the leading program in Canada in information systems security. In 2011, eight of the ten Canadian papers presented at the MIT conference “Privacy, Security, Risk and Trust (PASSAT)” were from our graduates (click to hear a grad talk about his experience at MIT). From the very start, this Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) sponsored conference has selected our graduate’s research. Our graduates make a difference through their research and make a contribution to the field of information security..
In the fall of 2012 we started two new programs. The Master of Information Systems Assurance Management (MISAM) program was approved by the CAQC and new faculty have joined our information security department for the new program. We also starting a Graduate Diploma in Information Assurance which can ladder to the MISAM program and a Graduate Diploma in Information Security which can ladder into the MISSM program.
Our campus was built on the bank of the North Saskatchewan river and is also home to the University of Lethbridge for their evening degree programs. Our campus home is inviting, student focused, and has been recognized consistently for this in Maclean’s Magazine and the Globe and Mail for our “A” quality of the education experience.
