Be responsible for your own success!

You are responsible for your own journey and success at university but at CUE, we do everything we can to help our students succeed! With this in mind, we offer lunch hour sessions and workshops on:

  • Working in Canada as a student
  • Navigating the CUE library and the NEOS systems
  • Bringing your family and friends to Canada (immigration)
  • Free tax filing sessions
  • Workshops on how to deal with homesickness and culture shock
  • Permanent residence (immigration)
  • Academic Success for International Students
  • Acculturation sessions
  • And much more!

Attend every session and workshop that you can, so that you can build the skill-set and proficiency to handle the new education environment that you are in and the new work and overall culture that you will have to adapt to!

The more you attend – the better you will perform!

The entire list of workshops will be available in each monthly newsletter, on the notice board outside the Student Success Center and the CUE International Office social media.

If you feel like you need a skills or info session and you don’t see it in our list, email us at international@concordia.ab.ca and let us know. We will try to arrange it for you!

Some international students might choose to improve their written and oral English language skills, in order to improve their academic performance and employment opportunities. For ways to improve your academic English, please get in touch with us at the Student Success Center and we can get you an appointment with a specialist who can help with your writing skills.

Additionally, there are newcomer and immigrant services in the city that will help you improve your English speaking skills for free. The Edmonton Public Library has some of the best free resources to improve your English and are conveniently located a short bus ride away from university. You can learn more here: https://www.epl.ca/ell/

The Government of Canada also offers free resources to improve your English. They can be found here: https://www.alberta.ca/improve-your-english.aspx
