2019
- 100 Year Campus Master Plan developed and presented to the CUE Community. The Master Plan examines the CUE campus in immediate years (2020 to 2030), intermediate years (2030-2075) and long-term years (2075 to 2120)
- A New Academic Building (NAB) is identified as a priority from the immediate years examination to meet the needs of the increasing student population
- CUE engages Najfeldt Architects Inc. and Reimagine Architects (previously Manasc Isaac) to develop the first phase of the NAB development, the Student Quadrangle (Quad) and Bridge
- Najfeldt and Reimagine develop consultation process involving CUE faculty and department staff, civic and community stakeholders
2020
- Consultations with CUE stakeholders, including department staff and faculty
- NAB is approved at the November 30 meeting of the CUE Board of Governors, with a proposed capital budget of approximately $40M
- Construction documents and pre-tender reports are adjusted for consultation feedback, highlighting the need for increased office, research and classroom spaces
2021
- Tenders for construction are released and the contract is awarded in June
- The City of Edmonton approves rezoning of the CUE campus
- Construction begins on the NAB and Quad in September
