University Budget

At Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), we are defined by our commitment to academic excellence and a deeply personal student experience. The approved 2026-27 budget reflects a proactive and disciplined approach to maintaining that promise in a shifting global environment.

A Strategy for Stability

The post-secondary sector currently faces significant headwinds, including a 65% reduction in federal international student permits. While this has led to a projected 32% decrease in our international undergraduate enrollment, CUE remains resilient. We are encouraged by modest projected growth in domestic undergraduate applications and after degree programs, signaling the continued demand for our distinctive, high-quality education.

Investing in the Future of Learning

Our $47 million operating budget and $17.2 million capital plan focus on two core pillars: infrastructure and student support.

  • Modernizing our Campus: We are making substantial investments in our IT infrastructure. From campus-wide wireless upgrades to enhanced cybersecurity and server reliability, we are ensuring our digital environment matches the caliber of our academic programming.
  • Addressing the Housing Crisis: Construction continues on our landmark 200+ bed student residence. This project will house a significantly higher percentage of our student body, providing a safe, stable, and vibrant homes on campus.
  • Expanding Access: We are proud to establish a new $1.5 million, 10-year bursary program specifically for low-income students. This initiative will support approximately 350 students annually, ensuring that a CUE education remains accessible to those with the greatest financial need.

Prudent Stewardship

By utilizing a zero-based budgeting model, we ensure that resources are directed toward our core mission of student success. While we remain cautious regarding the macroeconomic environment, this budget positions CUE to navigate uncertainty with confidence and momentum.
