About Us

The Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) is an applied research and innovation hub at Concordia University of Edmonton with a tiny, mighty, and highly-qualified team of in-house AI and business professionals. We dream about a better world and offer affordable tools that support organizations and learners to achieve their dreams. We offer education, research and business development support, and resources for artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and machine learning (ML). Our goal is to support learners and AI development collaborators to advance education and industry adoption.

“Our vision is to bring AI to everyone, to allow the benefits of AI to come to CUE’s faculty, staff, students and the public. AI is one of the most transformative technologies in human history. We all need to be aware of it. We all need to know it affects us.”

AI Pathway Partnership (AIPP)

At CAAI, we are part of the AI Pathway Partnership (AIPP), a consortium of Canadian post-secondary institutions committed to working collaboratively with industry partners to train learners and retain graduates for Alberta’s dynamic AI and ML industry. The consortium includes NorQuest College, Athabasca University, Concordia University of Edmonton, and Bow Valley College, in collaboration with Amii and made possible through funding provided by Western Economic Diversification Canada.

The AIPP helps connect learners to flexible, career-focused education from high school to post-secondary and graduate-level credit and non-credit programs. Whether you are looking to start a career or build on learning and skills that you have acquired through other programs or work experience, there is an AI pathway for you.
