John Brough
John Brough is the 2021 recipient of Choir Alberta’s Con Spirito Award. The Con Spirito Award recognizes the spirit and dedication of individuals and their commitment to choral music in their local community. John has been recognized for his work in the choral community and particularly for his 15-year tenure as Artistic Director of Da Camera Chamber Choir.

Dave Horak
In June 2020 Dave Horak, a member of the drama faculty, was appointed Artistic Director of the Freewill Shakespeare Festival. Dave has been teaching drama at CUE for several years and directed our Fall 2020 streamed production of Too Much Zoom Makes us all go Blind.

Michael Peng
In December, Drama and Public Speaking instructor, Michael Peng, performed a dramatic reading online to celebrate International Mountain Day as part of the READING MOUNTAINS FESTIVAL in Innsbruck, Austria. The festival was organized by the Canadian Studies Centre (University of Innsbruck) and the Wirth Institute (University of Alberta), and was supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum (Ottawa). Michael read from Medicine Walk, by Canadian Indigenous author, Richard Wagamese, joining colleagues from The University of Lethbridge and the University of Innsbruck in a celebration of Canadian alpine literature. Other readings included works from Angie Abdou, Denise Desautels and Gabrielle Roy.
This past summer, Michael was nominated for an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award (Outstanding Fringe Performance – Drama) for playing Mark Rothko in wishbone theatre’s production of RED, by John Logan.
Danielle Powder
Danielle seamlessly transitioned complex student service online following COVID-19. It takes incredible talent to maintain the community amongst her students.
Debbie Rice
Jubiloso! conducted by Debbie Rice was invited to participate in an online Handbell Advent Calendar sponsored by the Raleigh Ringers, the most popular US Handbell ensemble- Jubiliso! was selected from 100s of applicants and was 1 of the 2 applicants accepted from outside the US.
