What is a collective agreement?
A collective agreement is a written contract between an employer and union that contains the terms and conditions of employment (e.g. salary and benefits, responsibilities, etc.) that apply to all members of the group of employees represented by the union.
Who is the collective agreement between?
At CUE, our collective agreement is with the Concordia University College of Alberta Faculty Association (CUCAFA), which represents the interests of CUE’s probationary and permanent faculty members, professional librarians, laboratory instructors and field placement coordinators.
How does collective bargaining begin?
To begin the collective bargaining process, at least one party must give notice. The parties then set up dates to exchange and negotiate proposals. The current collective agreement at CUE expires June 30, 2025.
