An Important Update for International Students
Posted on: Jun 15, 2021As the COVID-19 situation in Canada and around the world continues to evolve, Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is committed to making informed decisions that prioritize the health, safety, and wellbeing of our community. As you know, we are planning for a near full return to face-to-face learning this fall and students will need to physically be in Canada in order to complete their studies.
Deferrals for International Students
International undergraduate students who are enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Management, and/or an Open Studies program, and who are unable to travel to Canada in time for the fall semester are eligible to defer their admission to their programs next available intake (Winter 2022). Students enrolled in a Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Environmental Health program are unable to defer their admission.
To request a deferral, students should submit an appeal to the Office of Admissions. The appeal can be sent in the form of an email and should state that you are requesting a deferral because you are unable to travel to Canada in time for the fall semester. Appeals will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Students who have accepted their offer of admission can request a deferral until August 29, 2021, and registration deposits that have been paid will automatically be applied to the Winter 2022 semester. Requests for deferrals will not be considered after this deadline.
Students who have yet to accept their offer of admission can still request a deferral. The deadline for requesting a deferral is the same as the acceptance deadline stated on their offer of admission.
Online Programs
Our Master of Information Systems Assurance Management (MISAM), Master of Information Systems Security Management (MISSM), Graduate Diploma in Information Assurance (GDIA), and Graduate Diploma in Information Security (GDIS) programs will be online this fall, and our Master of Science in Information Technology (MScIT) program will have both online and face-to-face course sections, giving students enrolled in the program a choice in their delivery method.
CUE does not have the capacity to offer an online learning option to undergraduate students. The decision to move some of our graduate programs online for the upcoming fall semester was made for logistical reasons that do not apply to undergraduate programs. Students enrolled in undergraduate programs, and other graduate programs, will need to physically be in Canada in order to complete their studies this fall.
Students with questions are asked to contact the International Office.
