Thunder Women’s Volleyball Swept by Wolves

Posted on: Nov 17, 2014

The Thunder Women's Volleyball team traveled to Grande Prairie over the weekend where they were swept by the hometown Wolves on both Friday night and Saturday afternoon. In Friday's match, the Wolves took control of the match from the very first point and did not relinquish that control as they won in straight sets 25-12, 25-14 and 25-18. Shandelle Meyer was selected as the Player of the Match.
In Saturday afternoon's match, the ladies came out with more energy and battled with the Wolves for the majority of the match, but the aggressiveness of the opposition was too much and the team went down to defeat in four sets, 25-12, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-15. Amy Davies was selected the Player of the Match. Coach Turner commented on the weekend's matchup: "We went up against a team that was the best serving team we have faced so far and we struggled with our first contact throughout the weekend. When we were able to stabilize our passing we played the Wolves point for point and we were able to win a set on Saturday, but overall we need to be better on our first contact in all phases of the game. We will continue to work on that this last weekend of league play and make sure we are confident in that aspect of the game to have the success we want to achieve."
The Thunder Women will finish the first half of league play this upcoming weekend as they play a home and home series versus Augustana. Game time on Friday at Concordia is 6:00 PM.
