CUE Your Future: President Loreman Welcomes Displaced International Students

As the President and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), I have been troubled to see how global instability and shifting immigration policies are disrupting the academic paths of thousands of international students. These are undeniably challenging times, but we believe that students should never be penalized for circumstances beyond their control.

If you’re an international student facing disruption whether you’re facing delays in visa processing, institutional restrictions, or barriers to continuing your education — this is an open invitation: CUE is here to help you move forward.

Your future is still within reach. And it can start right here. We are now accepting applications for undergraduate programs for September 2025 (June 30 deadline) and for Winter 2026 (October 1 deadline). The next available intake for any applicant for a graduate program (both domestic and international) is Fall 2026. Applications for the 2026/2027 Academic Year open on October 1, 2025.

Take the next step:

At CUE, we pride ourselves on being a stable, welcoming, and enriching academic institution that makes it easy for international students like you to pursue your higher learning journey with confidence. Here’s what some of your peers shared about their experience:

“As an international student, I had a lot of questions—and CUE had answers. From the moment I reached out, the support felt personal and genuine. The admissions team made the process simple and stress-free, and I felt confident knowing someone was there to guide me every step of the way.”

Located in the City of Edmonton, one of Canada’s most affordable, safe, and opportunity-rich metropolitan regions, CUE offers a student-centered environment designed for seamless credit transfers, tailored academic advising, and career-ready programs, all within a supportive community that recognizes the value international students bring to our campus and to Canada.

Our international community is large and diverse. Of the nearly 3,000 students who attend CUE, approximately 16% are international students. But international students at CUE aren’t just a number. At CUE, international students receive personalized attention and the guidance they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally, wherever their journey takes them after their time with us.

And the support doesn’t stop at campus borders. Edmonton is home to a wide range of cultural communities that reflect its population’s diversity and contribute to its dynamic character. Many of these communities serve as informal support networks by offering opportunities to connect through cultural associations, language groups, and community events. For many students, these connections make it easier to find a sense of belonging and navigate life in a new country.

We offer strong programs, including in Education, Science, Management, Psychology, IT, and Environmental Science, many of which align with Canada’s labour market and immigration pathways. This means you’ll graduate with not only a respected Canadian degree, but also a clear path forward, including eligibility for Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and potential permanent residency.

What you can expect at CUE:

  • Easy Transfer Pathways – Bring your credits with you. We assess for transfer credit as part of the admissions process.
  • Affordable Tuition, No Surprises – Enjoy high-quality Canadian education at significantly lower cost than many U.S. institutions.
  • Financial Support – CUE offers scholarships and bursaries to eligible international students, and we’re among only a handful of Alberta universities that are approved for U.S. Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), making it easier for American students to fund their education.
  • STEM & Career-Focused Programs – Science, IT, Management, Environmental Science, Psychology and more — all aligned with Canada’s job market.
  • Excellence in Teaching, Dynamic Learning – With an average class size of just 30 students, you’ll benefit from interactive learning and meaningful academic connections.
  • Athletics That Compete and Support – Join a close-knit community of scholar-athletes. CUE Thunder teams win championships while excelling academically.
  • Work While You Study – All international students can work part-time during studies and full-time during breaks.
  • Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) – Eligible to work in Canada for up to three years after graduation, with pathways to permanent residency.
  • A Safe, Friendly and Thriving City – Edmonton, home of the Oilers NHL team, offers a welcoming, multicultural environment and a high quality of life.

CUE your future. We’ll help you get there.
