Talk Description: Protecting Your Digitalized Life

Getting to the Internet is a breeze with our enabled devices at home, work, school and vehicles. During the pandemic, we relied heavily on enabled devices, Wi-Fi, other technologies and social media platforms to keep us connected to family members, colleagues, classmates and coworkers. Gain information to safely protect your privacy and devices. During this interactive session, you’re welcome to make adjustments as you learn how to protect your digitalized life.

This session is ideal for those who want to:

  • Understand the psychology behind scamming and cybercrimes
  • Minimize the risk of being compromised
  • Learn what the Internet says about you
  • Understand how to become a cybercrime fighter

About the Speaker: Dr. Bonita Best

Dr. Bonita Best is a pracademic in which she is an active practitioner in the information technology (IT) field and an academic. Dr. Best earned a Doctorate in Business Administration and has helped other working-adult students with their academic goals as well as professionals with their career goals. She has mentored individuals at her Alma Maters and within the workplace.

As a youth, Dr. Best was given a message in her dream. The dream was repetitive, and the message was “you are to help people help themselves.” At the time, she did not understand what it meant. As Dr. Best evolved through life, she learned that this was her mission and she adopted it as her personal mantra. Regardless of where Dr. Best was in life, she helped her clients, friends, students, coworkers, family members, and others who solicited her guidance, insights, and expertise. Helping people was self-gratifying because she enjoyed helping people achieve their goals, overcoming challenging situations, and seeing the positive outcomes.

As an IT professional, Dr. Best has worked in the government, non-profit, financial, IT, healthcare, and professional services industries. Academically, she authored a chapter in a published book and has served as a doctoral committee member.

Dr. Bonita Best

She co-owned a franchise and has owned businesses, which has helped her provide consulting services to new and inspiring entrepreneurs as well as corporations. Dr. Best enjoys training and recruiting aspiring cybercrime fighters; teaching people how to protect their digital life; and improving individuals’ digital footprint.
