Concordia Signs MOU With Avans University

Posted on: May 9, 2018

Concordia University of Edmonton is pleased to announce we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Avans University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.  Our international collaboration will begin with student exchange programs and ultimately extend in the future to other fields such as sustainability projects and faculty exchange programs.

The Dutch university, considered the best University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands six times in a row, reached out to Concordia, being impressed by our innovative research agenda and international partnerships. Following their attendance at the GLOBE Sustainability Conference in Vancouver in March, they visited Edmonton specifically to meet with us.

During the meeting, discussions focused on each university’s goals and values, and potential opportunities in which our two institutions can begin a collaboration. Avans University, like CUE, has a teaching pedagogy that is very student-centred and the general consensus appeared to favour student exchanges as a good starting point to this relationship.
