Women’s Volleyball Open Preseason at Olds College Tournament

The Thunder Women's Volleyball team traveled to Olds this past weekend to play in the Olds College Volleyball Tournament, coming away with a 1-3 record. Playing four south division teams, the ladies saw the physicality and mental toughness in the opposition that they played and realized what it will take to get to that level. With only three practices before the tournament, the ladies went into the weekend looking to develop team togetherness, work on all aspects of their game and to see where their skill set is right now and where it needs to get to. "After the weekend, we came away knowing that we can compete with each team in this league," stated 2nd year Head Coach Trever Turner. "(We will) continue to develop a strong work ethic both on and off the court to give ourselves the best opportunity to succeed."
In the four matches played, the Thunder lost to Medicine Hat (3-0), Briercrest (3-0) and Ambrose (3-0). In the match that the Thunder won, they beat SAIT 3-2. "Overall, it was a great learning weekend for the ladies and they will continue to understand the level of compete as the season moves on and will be ready for league play in the middle of October."
