Under the leadership and direction of our colleague Dr. Xinxin Fang, International Officer and award winning Professor of Mandarin and Linguist, Concordia is establishing a Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS), which will be offering continuing education in Mandarin language and Chinese culture. The CCS will start offering free Mandarin classes for students, staff and faculty, from September 7th – December 7th. Classes will be Wednesdays from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm in S302.

The Center for Chinese Studies encourages CUE students, faculty and staff to study the Chinese language, be involved in intercultural discussions, and develop cross cultural competencies.

The course is designed for 1.5 hours/week * 9 weeks= 14 hours which is the length of time that could enable learners to pass HSK exam level 1 (international standardized Chinese Proficiency Exam).

Furthermore, upon completion of the course, there is the possibility of a 8-10 days trip to China for cultural immersion all funded by a scholarship except for the flights, for 12 students (this scholarship is only for students)! Please check out the attached information.

The official launch of the CCS will be on September 29th in the afternoon. Details to follow.
