Thunder Women’s Volleyball Push Augustana to the Limit
Posted on: Nov 4, 2013Halloween night brought the Thunder Women's Volleyball team up against the Augustana Vikings in the first of a home-and-home weekend series. In a highly entertaining and competitive match, the Thunder pushed the Vikings hard but a few unfortunate set backs were just a little too much to overcome and the Thunder fell short losing 23-25, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-27. Veteran Sarah Schwanz was named Player of the Game recording an incredible 18 kills and 12 digs. On Friday night the series moved to Camrose and once again, the fans saw a highly entertaining match with record breaking scores. Unfortunately, the Thunder defense was not as strong as it needed to be to defeat the Vikings and with a fourth set that nearly constituted a fifth, the Thunder lost 28-26, 20-25, 21-25, and 36-38. "The ladies played with everything they had in the final set pushing the score almost into the forties," said Head Coach Sherri Milne. Veteran Bailey Magas was named Player of the Game with 15 kills and 28 digs.
The Thunder will now enjoy a bye weekend to regroup and strengthen their play before they meet up with the King's Eagles on November 15th.
