Thunder WBB Take Part in “Go 21, Down’s Syndrome Walk of Edmonton”

Posted on: Nov 2, 2015

On Sunday morning, the Thunder Women’s Basketball team took to the trails of Hawrelak Park to support team Manager Carley Smith in the 'Go 21 Walk for Down's Syndrome'.  “We are very fortunate to have someone like Carley in our basketball family. Carley does a great job with the team. Her smile and her positivity brightens the atmosphere in the gym. The girls love it when she’s there; Carley loves it when she's there,” says Coach Valpreda. Carley is in her first year with the women’s basketball team and is an important part of the program. “At the end of the day, it’s not how many wins or losses you have. It’s about the people you surround yourself with. This game can take you on a ride of emotions and when the storm settles and you look around the room, nothing else matters except those teammates, coaches and managers who stood by your side no matter what the outcome is. Carley, thank you for being our teammate."
