Thunder Hockey Drop Two to SAIT but Remain in Playoff Hunt
Posted on: Feb 18, 2014The SAIT Trojans hockey team didn't need any sneaky tactics (like hiding in a huge wooden horse!) to defeat our seemingly deflated Thunder Hockey team this past weekend. Despite some moments of inspired play by the Thunder, huge lapses in concentration gave the Trojans momentum that they took full advantage of, producing two decisive wins (5 – 1 and 8 – 3). "We can't seem to get away from shooting ourselves in the foot," lamented Coach Peacocke. "We've actually played some very good hockey over the past few weeks, but we are stuck in a pattern of making big mistakes and the more we do that, the more tense we get as a group. It's a really difficult challenge to maintain the positive outlook needed to be successful under these circumstances." That being said, the Thunder remain in the playoff hunt and the chance to press the reset button that comes with post season play. Three victories in their final four league games will likely secure a playoff spot. "That's certainly doable," according to Coach Peacocke.
The Thunder will now hit the road for a pair of games against the Briercrest Clippers in Caronport, Saskatchewan before wrapping up the regular season February 28th and March 1st against the Augustana Vikings.
