Posted on: Jul 12, 2016Fresh off the plane from France – where he represented the CCAA at the 13th International University Sports Federation (FISU) forum – Thunder Athletics Director Joel Mrak will be adding to his frequent flyer miles next summer as the Administration Manager for the Canadian delegation at the 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei City, Taiwan, August 19th to 30th. Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) – as the Canadian representative to the International University Sports Federation – announced the appointment of Canada’s mission staff for the 2017 Universiades earlier today in Toronto.
The Universiade is a biennial, international multi-sport competition and is second only to the Olympics in the number of participating athletes and countries. The games are open to competitors between the ages of 17 and 28 in the year of the games who are full-time students at a post-secondary institution (university, college, cegep) or have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the year preceding the games.
Joel will be joined by two fellow ACAC colleagues at the games as UofA-Augustana AD Greg Ryan and MacEwan University Athletics Administrator Lindsay Schulha have also been named to the mission staff.
