Still time! To Faculty: Study Tour in Mexico with MacEwan University
Posted on: Nov 7, 2016
To Concordia's permanent faculty:
Our colleagues from MacEwan University are asking for you! It is still time to sign up.
Our colleagues from MacEwan University are organizing a Faculty Study Tour to Mexico in 2017 and are kindly offering a spot for one CUE faculty (two colleagues went with the MacEwan colleagues on the China Study Tour a few years ago). Here is the initial itinerary:
Saturday, May 13 – Fly to Guadalajara
Sunday, May 14 – Cultural day in Guadalajara; Tlaquepaque
Monday, May 15 – Friday, May 19 – university and other visits in Guadalajara (e.g. ITESM, UNIVA, Universidad de Guadalajara, ITESO, Universidad Marista, Canadian Consulate, Jalisco Government; also Lake Chapala, Tequila town)
Friday, May 19 – Cultural day in San Miguel de Allende (a UNESCO World Heritage Town)
Sunday, May 21 – Travel to Guanajuato; visit Universidad de Guanajuato
Monday, May 22 – Travel to Mexico City
Tuesday, May 23 – Wednesday, May 24 – university and other visits in Mexico City (e.g. UNAM, Frida Khalo, Anthropology Museum, Sun and Moon Pyramids)
Thursday, May 25 – Return to Edmonton
Our colleagues write us: "As you see, it is roughly 50/50 cultural competency and university visits, thus again a professional development opportunity of some value. We enjoyed having your [Concordia] faculty with us in China, so I wanted to ensure you knew we'd be happy to discuss Concordia participation again this time."
"Our deadline for expressions of interest (to include name, department, and a maximum 250-word statement of how participation is expected to have an impact on the participant's teaching and/or research) is Nov. 4." (But they are extending the deadline still!)
If you are interested, I am happy to talk with you.
