CUE and CAA launch Student Relief Fund to support students affected by COVID-19

Posted on: Jun 2, 2020

Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) and the Concordia Alumni Association (CAA) are announcing today a new initiative to support current and incoming CUE students. The Student Relief Fund will help address the financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, including housing, food, tuition, transportation, and loss of employment.

“COVID-19 has created a new normal that is filled with uncertainty,” said Ryan Danyluik, President of CAA. “While these are challenging times for all of us, it is important to recognize that some groups have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, including students. The impact of this fund will be immediate, creating the conditions for students to focus on their academic goals without sacrificing basic necessities.”

In order to start helping students immediately, CUE has partnered with the Concordia Students’ Association and Graduate Students’ Association to donate $80,000. However, the anticipated need far exceeds that amount and will persist for many months to come.
