Welcome Bridget Burgess, Communications Specialist!
Posted on: Apr 14, 2020We are pleased to announce the onboarding of a new colleague, Communications Specialist, Bridget Burgess. The External Affairs and International Relations area has added capacity to our Marketing and Communications department, and now distinguishes two portfolios:
Marketing, managed by Sarawjeet Panesar, will continue working with our external marketing partners on our advertising campaigns, and continue working on promotion for faculties, programs and events, recruitment, branding, website, and social media management.
Our new Communications Specialist, Bridget Burgess, who starts at CUE (online) on April 16, will now be in charge of Communications.
Bridget will move to Alberta as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. She will work directly with the Vice President, External Affairs and International Relations, and closely with the President, Board and all stakeholders at CUE for a strong communications strategy that shall also shape our branding, website, and social media presence.
Bridget is a strategic thinker and experienced communications professional with a background in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, and issues and crisis management. She is certified in ICS-100 and 200, and by the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2). In her role as a consultant at NATIONAL Public Relations, the largest public relations firm in the country, she led and supported large-scale communications, advocacy, and government relations initiatives across sectors. Her clients included the Halifax Port Authority, Canada’s Ocean Supercluster, Forest Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Power, and the Government of Canada. Prior to joining NATIONAL, Bridget worked as a revenue development strategist for United Way Ottawa. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with first class honours in Political Science from St. Francis Xavier University.
