University Experience in Germany
Posted on: Jul 31, 2019Dr. Rossitza Marinova, Professor in Mathematical and Computing Sciences, returned from sabbatical this July. She spent two months at Hochschule Mittweida, Saxony, and three months at Hochschule Darmstadt (H-DA), Hesse, Germany. (Hochschule is translated in English as University of Applied Sciences.) Mittweida is a boutique lovely town near beautiful castles. Darmstadt is a medium size city in the large metropolitan area of Frankfurt. The purpose of the visit was to enhance partnerships between Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) and the two universities in Germany.
Prof. Rossitza Marinova interacted with faculty and students and delivered lectures to H-DA students in computational mathematics. She also gave presentations about Alberta, Edmonton, CUE and its programs. The expected outcomes of the visit are to increase the institutional collaboration and student exchange agreements between the institutions.
Possible collaborations between the universities include:
- Faculty exchange for teaching courses or portions of courses and collaborative research including supervision of student research projects.
- Students exchange of undergraduate students for one semester or one year
- CUE students could study at HS Mittweida and H-DA for one year or during the second semester.
- HS Mittweida and H-DA students could study at CUE for one year or during the first semester.
