Thunder Women’s Volleyball Still Looking for Elusive First Win

Posted on: Nov 25, 2013

The Thunder Women's Volleyball team traveled to Olds on Friday to face the ACAC-sophomore Olds College Broncos. Reversing a trend from recent seasons, the Thunder came out of the gate fired-up and took the first set in extra points 28-26.  Head Coach Sherri Milne attributed the first set victory to a complete team effort from everyone on the court. Unfortunately the Thunder could not sustain their momentum and lost the next three sets and the match 25-23, 25-12 and 25-12.
On Saturday, the Thunder were back at home and once again they came out strong and put in a spirited fight, pushing the Olds College women to extra points (26-24). However, they just could not get on top of the Broncos and lost the next two sets and the match (25-19 and 25-18).  "We were simply not mentally prepared for the Olds Broncos,' concluded Coach Milne.
This week brings the half way mark in the Thunder season as they finish off first semester play with a home-and-home series with the MacEwan Griffins. The home game goes on Friday night, November 29th at 6 PM. The Thunder hope to see everyone out at the Volleyball pep rally on Friday!  Go Thunder!
