Thunder Women’s Basketball Gets Clawed by the Kodiaks
Posted on: Nov 25, 2013This weekend the Women’s Basketball Team took on the Kodiaks from Lethbridge College. With the Kodiaks sitting at 6-1 in conference play the ladies had a big game ahead of them. After the tip-off, the first quarter play was slow paced as both teams were a bit sluggish. “It felt like a track meet out there tonight,” commented Coach Valpreda. "Both teams were going back and forth without much scoring and a lot of turnovers…31 to be exact after 2 quarters for the Thunder. We couldn’t catch or pass a ball tonight,” concluded Valpreda. The Thunder took a small lead in the second quarter but then made some little mistakes that Lethbridge took full advantage of. "We did another good job defensively but we didn’t give ourselves a chance on the offensive end because we kept turning the ball over." On a positive note, a bright spot was the play of 1st year Guard Shyanne Walton who received Player of the Game honours in the 74-38 loss.
The Thunder will now regroup for their final weekend of Fall Semester play when they travel to Lloydminster on Thursday to face the Rustlers before coming back to host the crew from Lakeland on Saturday night. Tip off time is 6 PM.
