Thunder Men’s Volleyball Go Toe-to-Toe with NAIT

Posted on: Jan 12, 2015

It was a great start to the New Year as the Thunder Men's Volleyball team battled hard against one of the top teams in the country. Friday night was a battle between the Teliske brothers as younger brother Ryan got the start against NAIT and older brother Jordan. Ryan didn't disappoint and led Concordia to a thrilling first set win. The remainder of the match was more of the same but unfortunately coming out on the losing side of the next 3 sets (24-26, 25-21, 26-24, 25-15). Friday night's match was highlighted by a great setting performance from Alex Ingstrup and defensive artistry from all-star Libero Matt Fulton with plenty of highlight real digs. Saturday, the guys came out flying once again and had NAIT on their heels the entire first set which resulted in a first set win. The guys battled in the next 3 sets but again like Friday night, losing some very close – and highly entertaining – sets (23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21). Nick Dove led the way Saturday night with a dominating 18 kills. Head Coach Shamus Dowler stated, "Both nights Concordia showed they put in a lot of work over the break frustrating the Ooks with tough defense and a fresh look on offense. The 2nd half of the season looks to be an entertaining one if the boys can put together more nights like those."
The Thunder's next test will be the Lakeland Rustlers with the home match going Friday night, January 16th.
