Reconstituted Defensive Corp Boosts Prospects for Thunder Hockey

Posted on: Jan 12, 2015

On Friday in Penhold, the Concordia Thunder Men's Hockey team opened up the second half of the season with a close 3 to 2 loss to RDC. Highlights of the game included the return of Beau Ferbey and Phil Dillon to the lineup, both had been sidelined all season with broken legs. Brett Richards and Nathan Smith scored in the game and Goaltender Rhys Hadfield stood tall despite the loss.
On Saturday night the Thunder played their first home game at Clareview Arena in nearly 3 years. Goals by Brandon Halls, Chase Fallis and Jordan Hoffman had the Thunder ahead late in the game. However RDC scored with the net empty with 20 seconds left in the third period and were able to score again in overtime to defeat the Thunder 4 to 3. Despite the very difficult loss, the Thunder played very well and have shown great signs of improvement that should bode well for the remaining 12 games this season.
The Thunder's next action will be this Friday night when they head down to Calgary to take on the SAIT Trojans before returning on Saturday night for the home game against those very same Trojans.  Game time is 8:15 PM at Clareview Arena (3804 139 Avenue).
