Thunder Hockey Take a Point off of Portage

Posted on: Jan 25, 2016

This weekend the Thunder Men's Hockey team faced the Portage Voyageurs. On Friday night at home the Thunder and Voyageurs traded chances in a highly entertaining game. The Thunder got 2 goals from 5th year forward Tyler Stevenson but couldn't tie the game late and fell 5 to 3.
Saturday night the Thunder traveled to Lac La Biche. Despite controlling the play the Thunder could not beat the Portage goalie or his goalposts and found themselves down 2 to 0 late in the third. However the Thunder rallied with a goal from Tyler Stevenson to pull within 1 with 7 minutes to play. With the net empty, David Randall tied the game with just 14.8 seconds left to force overtime. In the extra frame the goalies stood tall and the final ended up being 2 – 2.
Coach Dan Glegloff is proud of the efforts of the team and looks forward to the challenge of facing a very strong UAA team this coming weekend.
