Thunder Hockey Put a Pair of Checkmarks in the Win Column
Posted on: Oct 27, 2014The Concordia Thunder Men's Hockey team swept their first two wins of the season away from the Portage College Voyageurs this past weekend. Friday night at Glengarry was a back and forth exciting game that saw the Thunder put up 4 power play goals. Tyler Stevenson led the way with 2 goals including the winner with 1:02 left in the third period. Filiph Bystrom also had a big night picking up 3 points in the win.
Saturday night in Lac La Biche, the Thunder trailed 2 – 0 early in the first period but fought back valiantly to earn a 3 – 2 victory. Brandon Halls got the scoring going for the Thunder and Jordan Hoffman scored 2 second period goals to put the Thunder ahead for good. The MVP for the Thunder was Goaltender Rhys Hadfield who made 44 saves in the win.
Next up, the Thunder will try to keep the puck rolling with a home-and-home series with the Augustana Vikings. The home game goes Halloween night at Glengarry with the puck dropping at 8:15 PM. The face off for game two of the series will go at 7:30 PM on Saturday night at the Encana Arena in Camrose.
