The Halls Are Alive with the Sound of Music

Posted on: Aug 12, 2019

The halls are alive with the sound of music and laughter! This week Singspiration XX brings to campus 50 young singers (gr. 4-12) and several teachers, and more than 100 adult singers in the evening.

Beyond the choir rehearsals and spontaneous fun, Concordia’s award-winning choral camp spotlights interest sessions this year in improv, soccer, art, and Concordia’s specialty of handbells and master conductor Debbie Rice. For many families this camp is a personal introduction to the school, a chance to feel at home on the campus and get acquainted with some faculty and staff, students and recent alumni. At least one of the returning campers starts her post-secondary career here in a few weeks!

Please bring your lunch and join us in Tegler at 12:15 each day for a short recital, open to all!

This week in Tegler, 12:15-12:35 pm:

Monday: Ryan Davidson, guitar (contemporary music)
Tuesday: David Unsworth, singer-songwriter (& Singspiration alumnus)
Wednesday: James Dyck, male soprano (& recent Concordia student)
Thursday: Ombra di Music, string trio (& recent Concordia alumnae)
Friday: Handbell interest session presentation

Closing concerts include Adult Summer Choir concert Friday night at 7:30 in Tegler ($15)–Jordan Van Biert conducting a choir of 110 Edmonton-area singers–and Saturday 3 pm in Tegler ($15), in which Junior and Youth Choirs perform the music they’ve learned this week, under the direction of Dr. Melissa Morgan (Regina) and Meghan Rayment (Edmonton Young Voices).
