The Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) has gone through a lot of  changes recently, so here is a quick update, as well as a request to help us decide on a new name.

Our updated OTL website with more details can be found here: https://concordia.ab.ca/office-of-teaching-learning-resources/

The OTL was created two years ago to support faculty with the switch to online teaching during the pandemic. The OTL did important work in supporting online and blended learning, providing resources and advice, and updating the process for approving new courses and course changes. However, with the shift back to in-person learning, the focus of the OTL is shifting. Given that fewer than 5% of courses at CUE are offered in a blended or online format, the OTL’s mission has changed to support pedagogy more generally. Our new Educational Developer, Verena Roberts, has regular office hours for any instructor who would like to discuss ideas related to teaching. The OTL will also be working on other projects, including creating new academic integrity resources, Moodle demos, a pedagogy book club, and more.

As mentioned, we are considering renaming the Office of Teaching and Learning. We are hoping that the CUE community can help us with this exciting opportunity. Please fill in the short survey below with your “name” preferences as well as any teaching and learning priorities that you think the “new OTL” should consider pursuing:

Please feel free to email Verena Roberts, your new Educational developer at otl@concordia.ab.ca with any questions or feedback.
