One week left for Student Research Grant applications! (Fall 2021 Competition)

The Office of Research Services will continue to accept applications for the Student Research Grant (Fall 2021) competition until next Monday (November 1, 2021) at 11:59 p.m.
There will be no extensions to the deadline.
- Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for up to $1,500 per year.
- Graduate students are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 per year.
Completed forms must be submitted electronically as a single PDF file to research@concordia.ab.ca.
To create a single PDF file:
- Fill out the application form (below) and collect all signatures.
- Collect all of the required attachments and convert them to PDF format.
- “Print” the signed application form as a PDF document. (The application form is password-protected, and will not allow merging into a single document.)
- Combine all of the documents into a single PDF in the order listed in the application form checklist, making sure that the application form is included as the first document.
Applications that do not comply with the requirements will be removed from the competition.
Research supervisors are strongly encouraged to assist students in completing the application form.
Prior to adjudication, the budget of an application is subject to confirmation of eligibility of expenses by the Office of Research Services (ORS).
Eligible activities
Student research grants support direct costs for research activities, including research publication fees, expenditures related to research projects, registration fees only for conferences that are held online, or similar activities approved by the Research and Faculty Development Committee (RFDC).
Expenses related to travel for research dissemination at conferences are ineligible until further notice.
The sponsoring faculty member is expected to be involved in the research as a co-author.
A Note on the Use of Technical Language
Students who wish to participate in this competition must keep in mind that internal grant applications are adjudicated by CUE’s Research and Faculty Development Committee (RFDC).
The RFDC is a multidisciplinary committee with elected representatives from all CUE Faculties. RFDC members are highly educated scholars, but they are not expected to be experts in all fields.
To ensure that applications are appropriate for adjudication by this committee, applicants should avoid using discipline-specific jargon and other highly technical language in their proposals. If the RFDC determines that an application is not comprehensible to a non-expert, the application may be removed from the competition.
