Concordia University of Edmonton invites you to nominate an inspiring individual for its honorary doctorate, which will be conferred at Convocation 2024.
Honorary degrees are intended to honour individuals whose extraordinary achievement in community, national or international service, intellectual or artistic achievements or significant service to society set a standard of excellence and merit the institution’s highest honour. The individual’s accomplishments are of such excellence that they provide, through example, inspiration and leadership to the graduates of the university. In accepting an honorary degree the recipient also honours the spirit of the university.
Candidates must normally have an exceptional record of distinction in at least one of the following:
Applications will be reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors (the Committee), and their selection is recommended to the Board of Governors for approval.
Nominations are not awarded posthumously and generally not to any of the following: current faculty or staff; current members of the Board of Governors; and current holders of political office.
In approving candidates for honorary degrees, the Committee strives for diversity of backgrounds, disciplines and spheres of contribution. The Committee seeks those whose merit is extraordinary and not merely impressive.
