Dr. Simmee Chung Receives AERA Narrative Research SIG’s 2025 Early Career Award

Concordia University of Edmonton is delighted to share that Dr. Simmee Chung, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Early Career Award from the Narrative Research Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).  

This prestigious award recognizes a scholar in the early stages of their career, within ten years of earning their doctorate, who has made outstanding contributions to the field of narrative research at both national and international levels. Dr. Chung’s work exemplifies this distinction through its methodological grounding, theoretical depth, and meaningful impact.

In addition to her scholarly achievements, Dr. Chung is passionate about supporting the research of fellow scholars. She served as Program Chair-Elect (2024–2025) for the Narrative Research SIG. Dr. Chung now begins her term as Program Chair (2025–2026), during which she will lead the development and coordination of the SIG’s conference program for the upcoming AERA Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, California.
