Incident in Allan Wachowich Centre

Charges have been laid against a 24-year old man after an incident which occurred in the Allan Wachowich Centre on the Concordia University of Edmonton campus. The alleged perpetrator was caught attempting to capture images on his cellphone in the women’s washroom on the second floor at approximately 12:45 p.m. on February 7th, 2024. The victim notified Concordia Campus Security and immediate measures were taken to contact police and provide victim support. The alleged perpetrator was promptly removed and banned from campus. The Edmonton Police Service investigation is ongoing. Concordia will be engaging in an investigation of the student’s actions and will follow all relevant disciplinary processes and policies.

Through review of surveillance footage, campus security identified other individuals who were in the vicinity of the incident during this time period. Concordia will seek to contact these individuals to determine if there were any additional incidents and/or concerns. All impacted individuals who have been identified have been provided access to support services. If there are any others who may have encountered this person or believe their personal safety or integrity may have been compromised, please contact Edmonton Police Service at 780.423.4567 or Concordia Security at 780 479 8761 immediately.

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a safe and secure environment, Concordia University of Edmonton has reviewed this incident to determine if any further safety and security measures are required.
