Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is pleased to announce that effective August 12, Dr. Sherif Elbarrad will be joining us as Interim Dean of Management.
Dr. Sherif Elbarrad joins us from Macewan University where he was a full Professor and served as the Interim Associate Dean for Student Engagement & Success. He has previously held positions such as Associate Dean at the School of Business, MacEwan University, and Chair of the Accounting & Finance Department for the BCOM program. He was the Chair of the Accounting department at two other universities as well. He has taught accounting at eight universities across Egypt, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Canada at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA-Alberta) and an Associate member of the Montana Society of Certified Public Accountants (USA). Professor Elbarrad has developed numerous accounting programs and courses for undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He holds a BCOM (with distinction) and a Master of Accounting from Ain-Shams University in Egypt, as well as a Ph.D. in Accounting from a joint program between Ain-Shams University and the University of Cologne in Germany. He has received Teaching Excellence awards from multiple institutions, including the L.S. Rosen Outstanding Educator Award and the Howard Teall Award for Innovation in Accounting Education from the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA). Professor Elbarrad has also participated in peer reviews for universities in Canada and Saudi Arabia and has authored numerous research articles and textbooks, including a Financial Accounting textbook with Pearson Publishers.
