CUE Education welcomes Dr. Janet McConaghy

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Janet McConaghy is joining our Faculty of Education as an Assistant Professor.  Dr. McConaghy will commence her Faculty appointment on August 1, 2016. 

Dr. McConaghy’s professional career in education extends over a period of twenty-seven years.  She has taught at the elementary level from Kindergarten through Grade Six, and is currently a Reading Specialist/Consultant with Edmonton Public Schools.  As well, Dr. McConaghy has taught as a sessional instructor at the University of Alberta and at Concordia University of Edmonton. 

Dr. McConaghy completed her PhD in Elementary Education (2014) at the University of Alberta.  Her study was focused on the curriculum area of language and literacy development within the context of the social and pedagogical approach of dialogic teaching.  Specifically, her dissertation research was an exploration into the relationship between language and thought within students’ use of exploratory talk as a process in the construction of meaning.
