Chinese New Year Celebration on February 8 and 12.

The Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) extends its sincere invitation to you all to participate the Chinese New Year Celebration events at CUE.

Event 1: The CCS will present Chinese Movie night at the Auditorium on Thursday, February 8.

Reception starts at 5 pm on Mezzanine. Movie starts at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium. Please review the movie –Wolf Warrior II 

Event 2: The Chinese New Year Celebration will be held in Tegler on Monday, February 12 from noon to 1 pm.

Tai Chi Master Ken Chui and his team will present Tai Chi Chuan (Taiji quan), Tai Chi Fan, Tai Chi Sword, and Tai Chi Broadsword performance. Master Chui is a certified instructor for Tai Chi and Qigong, taught for more than 10 years. Tai Chi Judge and Chinese Wushu Association Dan 4.

The CCS is also glad to invite Anton Oscar Iorga to present Hip Hop and Poem on Chinese History.  Anton Oscar Iorga is a multiethnic interdisciplinary PhD candidate and decolonial teacher at the University of Alberta. He is the co-founder of a worldwide artistic and alternative education safe space collective, Mutant Akademy, a non-profit activist hip-hop label and anticolonial resource website, Revolt Motion, as well as a hip-hop/spoken word artist with over 70 albums published in the past 23 years.

You will have the opportunity to meet CHIN 102 instructor and students, to hear Chinese folk song sung by CUE students. Chinese food and workshops on calligraphy, dough art, and Chinese knots will also be available for your experience.
