Thunder Men’s Hockey Earn Split with Red Deer
Posted on: Jan 27, 2014The Concordia Thunder Men's Hockey team stayed on pace for the playoffs, splitting a weekend series against the powerful, upstart Red Deer Kings. Just two points out of first place, the Kings led the ACAC for most of the first semester and represented a real challenge for the Thunder. On Friday night at home, the boys from Concordia skated to a 3-2 victory and saw that margin echoed down in Penhold on Saturday night, when they fell by the same 3-2 margin.
The Thunder will now face a pair of '4-point swing' games when they square off against the Portage Voyageurs. The Voyageurs are looking to challenge for the 6th and final playoff spot which Concordia currently holds by a three point margin. This weekend's series could well determine the playoff fortunes for both teams so come out and cheer on the Thunder at Glengarry Arena on Friday night. The puck drops at 8:15.
