The Government of Alberta announced yesterday that Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) will receive $1.63 million of funding through the Targeted Enrolment Expansion (Round 2) Grants.

The money will go towards increasing domestic enrolments in CUE’s Bachelor of Management (BMgmt), the Master of Information System Assurance Management (MISAM) program, and the Master of Information System Security Management (MISSM) program over the next four years. The funding creates an additional 60 seats in the Bachelor of Management, 15 seats in the Master of Information System Assurance Management, and 15 seats in the Master of Information System Security Management programs.  

“We are thankful to the Government of Alberta for supporting Concordia University of Edmonton’s business school, the Mihalcheon School of Management. We train young professionals to have innovative and marketable skills, in addition to our mission to create independent thinkers, ethical leaders, and citizens for the common good,” says Dr. Alison Yacyshyn, Dean of Management. The funding will be used to support training in the following areas: 

• Accounting
• Data Management
• Cybersecurity 
• Energy Management
• Master of Information System Assurance Management (MISAM)
• Master of Information System Security Management (MISSM)

The province’s Targeted Enrolment Expansion program invests in new seats in high-demand programs in post-secondary institutions. This program is a key part of the Alberta at Work initiative. 

“This is a tremendous opportunity to expand and create programs that prepare our students for meaningful careers in technology and energy, and boost this already vibrant sector of our economy,” says CUE President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Tim Loreman. “We are thrilled to be able to create new seats in our Faculty of Management and to welcome even more students into our community.”
