CUE lowers flags to half-mast to mark death of Queen Elizabeth II
Posted on: Sep 9, 2022All four flags on campus at CUE are lowered to half-mast for 10 days in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on Thursday at the age of 96, after reigning for 70 years.
As the longest-serving monarch in British history and Canada’s head of state, the Queen devoted her life to the service of her people. Her loss will be deeply felt throughout Canada and much of the world.
Since her coronation in 1953, the Queen has visited Canada regularly, marking 22 official visits. She has been, and will continue to be an icon of the twentieth century, leading her kingdom and the Commonwealth through both political turmoil and jubilant celebration.
Today, we join the global community in mourning her passing.
