Wolves Take Two from Women’s Volleyball

Posted on: Nov 23, 2015

Over the weekend, the Thunder Women's Volleyball team made the long trek up to Grande Prairie to face the Wolves of GPRC. In Friday night's match, the ladies played some entertaining volleyball throughout and battled a very good team, but in the end could not come away with a victory losing 25-18, 25-14 and 25-18. Kayla Whiteman Kyte was selected as the Player of the Match for the Thunder.
In Saturday afternoon's match, the Thunder really struggled with their first contact and could not generate enough offense all around and went down to defeat in three sets, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-7. Tianna Smith was chosen as the Player of the Match for the Thunder.
Coach Turner's comments from the matches: "We came out strong in both matches and played with a very good team from Grande Prairie until the ten point mark. Once we hit that mark, we really struggled with our first contact and the Wolves took advantage of it, stepped up their level of pressure and we were unable to get our level of intensity up to compete with them. We continue to show that we can play with each team in our division but what we are lacking right now is the consistency to be able to play for a full set and match. We will work on our first contact and consistency this week and be ready for our last matches of the first half this upcoming weekend against the NAIT Ooks."
The home game of that set will go Friday night at 6 PM at the Ralph King Athletic Centre.
