Upcoming webinar from Universities Canada – Academic research safety in light of the COVID-19 PandemicPosted on: Jun 15, 2020
Universities Canada has prepared a webinar entitled ‘Academic research safety in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic,’ which will take place on Friday, June 19 at noon (MST). The webinar will be presented using Microsoft Teams (i.e., Skype). Please ensure that you have downloaded and installed the required software on your computer to join. RSVP is required.
During the webinar, there will be participation of officials from the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).
Information from Universities Canada:
Over the past month, CSIS and the CCCS have been actively engaging with Canadian researchers, and other entities involved in the global effort to combat COVID-19, to sensitize them to concerns related to foreign interference, espionage and cyber threat actors targeting Canadian research interests, intellectual property and innovation.
During this conversation, CSIS and CCCS officials will speak to why Canadian research is of interest to some foreign state actors, the methods that are used to compromise the integrity of that research, and will give us some indications of what to look out for, and how to best protect and secure research IP.
The session is targeted to VPRs, researchers, and research personnel… Space is limited and registration for the session is required. Please confirm your interest in participating by registering with RSVP@univcan.ca.
