Thunder Men’s Volleyball Finish Preseason with Pair of Wins

The Concordia Thunder Men's Volleyball team concluded their exhibition season on a high note winning both their matches over the weekend. Hosted by TKUC, the Thunder started the weekend with a Friday night tilt against Olds College. The Thunder won in straight sets with scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 27-25. Second year Kyle Sabraw led the way with 11 kills, 3 blocks, 2 aces and4 digs. First year Nick Dove also had an impressive match with 10 kills and 3 digs.
On Saturday afternoon, the Thunder faced off against the host King's Eagles this time needing 4 sets to take the match (17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-15).   Adam Baker led the way with 11 kills, 3 blocks, 2 aces and 3 digs. Connor Reeves chimed in with 9 kills, 5 blocks, 1 ace and 5 digs while Nick Dove had another good outing recording 9 kills and 5 digs. Second year Josh Gaudet also had a solid performance with 8 kills, 1 block, 1 ace and 6 digs.
"It was great to finish off our exhibition schedule with 2 quality wins over teams ranked higher than us in the pre-season coaches poll," said third year Thunder Head Coach Joel Mrak. "All around, we received contributions from everyone and our Liberos (Matt Fulton and Christian Legg) did an exceptional job in serve-receive and on defense."
The Thunder will open up the ACAC regular season this coming weekend when they host their home opener on Friday, October 25 before travelling to Lloydminster for the rematch on the 26th.
